At the recent Ocean Technology Network (OTW) hosted
by the MOTN, EPC demonstrated a wide variety of products.
At the conference EPC presented the Model 9802 Thermal Graphic Recorder,
GSP-1086-2 500 Series and the HSP-100. In fairly bumpy seas,
EPC demonstrated the GSP-1086-2 500 Series with an Edgetech DF-1000
Side Scan Sonar and Triton Elics International ISIS topside processor
aboard the R/V Connecticut. For more information on the R/V
Connecticut contact: Larry Burch, Marine Manager E-mail: burch@uconnvm.uconn.edu

The Scripps Institution of Oceanography has added
a GSP-1086-2 500 Series printer to its growing list of thermal recorders.
The GSP-1086 will be used with the new Knudsen echosounder on their
smallest ship, the 125 ft. R/V Robert Gordon Sproul, where the smaller
footprint will be an asset. Scripps uses EPC Model 9802 TGRs
with the Knudsen 320 B/R 3.5/12 kHz echosounding systems onboard
the R/V's Roger Revelle, Melville and New Horizon. EPC Model
9200 TGRs are in service with the Sea Beam multibeam systems on
the Melville and Roger Revelle, providing hard copy of the side-scan
image and vertical beam profile. In addition, a pair of 9800s
serves the Shipboard Geophysical Group's portable seismic system,
where they are used to create real-time plots of refraction data.

New from EPC is the D/A Converter. The converter
allows operators to print digital data (GSP-1086 compatible) to
any analog recorder. The digital data can be sent from the
Parallel Interface of the host computer onto a 25-pin cable on the
converter and then out two BNC cables to the recorder. A trimpot
on the unit can be used to adjust data width.

EPC Labs, Inc. will be closed at 12:00 PM on Wednesday,
November 24th and for all of Thursday and Friday, November 25-26th
in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Thanksgiving is
observed on the 4th Thursday in November as a legal Holiday for
divine goodness. It also commemorates when the Pilgrims settled
their differences with the Indians (Native Americans) and feasted
on Turkey. Today, it is a time when families get together
and proves to be the busiest travel day in the U.S.
