1. Export Achievement Award

On behalf of the Massachusetts Ocean Technology Network, Ted Curley, acting Vice-President of MOTN and Sales & Marketing Mgr. of EPC Labs, Inc. received the Mass Export Achievement Award.  The award, given for excellence in exporting, was in recognition for the group's initiatives with trade show collaborative and the recent Trade Mission to China.  The award was presented June 2nd at The Commonwealth Conference on International Business and featured a keynote address from the Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, Alan Greenspan.

2. Sales:  NAVO Purchase 7 GSP-1086s

The Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVO), Stennis Space Center, MS has purchased seven GSP-1086-2 500 Series recorders.  The units were purchased for use with three geophysical measurement systems and will utilize the new features incorporated with the 500 Series; Time Varied Gain (TVG), Band Pass Filtering and Signal Stacking.  The units were also delivered with custom Hardigg Transport Cases and the new EPC Rack-Mount Kit.  NAVO already owns three GSP-1086s.  These are being used with the seismic systems and a multi-beam sonar.

3. China:  Sales on Heels of Trade Mission

Coming on the heels of the successful trade mission to China, EPC announces the sale of  GSP-1086-2 500 Series to the Shanghai Offshore Petroleum Exploration and Develpoment Corporation, a division of the China National Star Petroleum Corporation, Shanghai P.R. China.  The recorder is for seismic operations and was sold through EPC Sales Agent China-Ores.  Previously, EPC had delivered a GSP-1086 to the Shanghai Institute of Waterways for operation on the Yangtze River Dredging Project.

4. Technical Bulletin:  Upgrade on the Web

The upgrade for the GSP-1086 500 Series is now available on the EPC Web-Site http://www.epclabs.com.  The software upgrade is applicable to all 500 Series GSP-1086 Models between Serial Number 500 and 532 only.  The software upgrade from REV C2 to C3b is implemented by downloading an executable file.

5. Trade Show News:  NoShow at Oceans '99

EPC is pleased to announces that it is not participating in Oceans '99 (Seattle, WA).  EPC does not have a booth number and will not be displaying any equipment.  There will be no EPC personnel at the show.  EPC is proud to be skipping the Oceans '99 Conference for the second year in a row.  EPC will next be participating in the Ocean Technology Workshop October 3-5 at the Sea Crest Oceanfront Resort and Conference Center, No. Falmouth, MA http://www.motn.org

6. EPC on NY Times Best Sellers List (sort of)

Now in paperback, "Ship of Gold in the Deep Blue Sea" by Gary Kinder.  The true story chronicals Tommy Thomson in his epic quest to find the SS Central America that sank off the Carolina coast in 1857 with 21 tons of gold onboard.  EPC recorders are featured prominately throughout the National Bestseller.  The older stylus EPC recorders (the expidition was in the 1980s) were used in conjuction with a SeaMARC Side Scan Sonar.  "Titanic tragedy meets Tom Clancy technology" claims People magazine.

7. Product News:  HSP-100 Ready for Delivery


EPC has secured orders for the new HSP-100 and is set for delivery this month.  The HSP-100 is a high resolution (256 shades) gray scale printer capable of being interfaced to all topside systems with a GSP-1086 driver.  Utilizing advances in modern electronics, EPC has minimized the amount of parts in the unit to greatly enhance reliability.  The single board controller executes the HSP's advanced logic in a single high density CPLD, eliminating unecessary circuitry.

8.  Holidays: Closed, July 5th

In observance of Independence Day, EPC Labs, Inc. will be closed Monday, July 5, 1999.  Independence Day, also known as the Fourth of July,  is the U.S. holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
