EPC has attended every Oceanology International
Conference since 1972. Why does EPC return every other year
to the small English sea side city of Brighton? The Top Ten
Reasons:
| 10. |
Oh, those spacious
European hotel rooms! |
| 9. |
Did someone say
"Bangers and Mash?" |
| 8. |
An excuse to experiment
with Brighton's alternative lifestyle. |
| 7. |
Hone skills for
stealing competitor's brochures. |
| 6. |
The Metropole Hotel,
such a bargain. |
| 5. |
Another opportunity
to annoy English waiters with, "More ice, please." |
| 4. |
Visit the beach....in
a winter coat! |
| 3. |
Berate all your
sales reps in one day. |
| 2. |
Hospitality suites
(not yours). |
| ...and
the number one reason why EPC attends Oceanology International, |
| 1. |
Where else can you
blow the entire years travel budget on one bar bill? |

New this Spring from EPC will be the latest advance
in the GSP-1086 Series. The gray scale printer is already
the industries most integrated and versatile hard copy available.
The latest in the series, the MP-1086 will take the EPC product
line to new heights. With the integration of mass storage,
analog towfish transceiver and heave motion circuitry, the MP-1086
will be able to drive analog tow fish and store data electronically.
Operators will be able to connect Edgetech 272 and Klein 595 Tow
fish directly to the MP-1086 without any additional hardware. 2.2
GB of removable storage allows users to log data directly on the
recorder in .XTF, SEG-Y or EPC data formats. EPC plans
to unveil the MP-1086 Series at Oceanology International 2000 in
Brighton, UK March 7-10. The GSP-1086-2 500 Series (analog,
parallel & RS-232) and GSP-1086-0 (parallel & RS-232) will
continue to be offered.

The early GSP-1086 Series appears to have a Year
2000 Compliant anomaly. The GSP-1086s (S/N 100 - 125) that
have not received a 386 to 486 upgrade experience a date rollover
error. After changing the date to the Year 2000 and powering
down and back up, the unit reverts to January 4, 1980. The
symptom is corrected with a new 386 Bios chip or a 486 upgrade.
There is no known significance of the date. Contact EPC for

One of the biggest concerns for EPC users is how
to maintain the thermal printhead. Over time, a residue from
the roll of media builds up on the thermal printhead and it is necessary
to clean the element line on the thermal printhead.
Cleaning should be done after every roll with
a cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol.
