2. EPC Anniversary

34 Years and counting!  EPC is pleased to announce that on August 25th EPC will celebrate its 34th year in business.  The company was established in 1967 by owner and founder Ed Curley.  Over the years, EPC prospered with the boom in oil exploration in the 1970s and later from Defense spending during the Cold War in the 1980s.  Today, EPC enjoys a versatile mix of geophysical, military, educational and imaging customers.  Through it all, the company has remained dedicated to providing the highest quality products with world class service.

As we enter our 35th year in business, the company would like to thank all of our customers for their loyal support and business, our sales representatives for all their hard work and dedication and all of our suppliers and vendors.

3. R&D Update

EPC has some exciting R&D efforts currently under way.  The new 1086NT will have the capability of interfacing with NT Based Topside systems over an Ethernet Interface.  The simple RJ-45 connection provides high speed data transmission over long distances.  The 1086NT's spooling logarithm eases the programmers real-time event handling.  EPC is developing an Application Programming Interface (API) which will allow programmers to use a Library and Header file to connect the 1086NT anywhere on a LAN.  Data and commands will also be able to be sent over a single connection.  Previously, operators would need to use the parallel and RS-232 interfaces to print data and send commands simultaneously.

EPC is researching applications to have the 1086NT remotely operated over the Internet from the Network Interface.  The Network Interface may have potential for users to transmit data from the printer over the Internet to remote locations.  An Ethernet Interface is also under development for the EPC wide-bed family (20" display) of thermal recorders.

4. Golf Anyone?

EPC is pleased to once again participate in the biennial MOTN Golf Scramble.  The event will be held on Monday, September 17, 2001 just prior to the Ocean Technology Workshop (OTW) September 18-19th in Plymouth, MA.  As in previous years, EPC will be a sponsor of the event.  This year's MOTN Scramble will be held at the plush Rees Jones designed Pine Hills Country Club in Plymouth, MA.  The course was recently written about in Travel and Leisure as one of the best new courses in the region.  Jack Nicklaus is designing an additional 18 holes (opening Summer 2002).  Cost to participate in the event is $85.00.  The event always includes a large turn-out with gifts and prizes.  You do not have to attend the OTW Workshop to participate in the MOTN Golf Scramble.

5. Reader Feedback

Last month's EPC Monthly (VOL. 3 NO. 30) evoked the largest reader feedback yet.  Most remarks centered around the quotes of the month.  Comments ranged from positive, "Great issue!", to humorous, "great stategery", to incredulous, "Are these quotes real?"  One reader did not find the supposed Pope's quote the least bit humorous, "not funny but offensive".  Finally, one reader questioned the author's sanity, "you are loosing it."  Whether its positive or negative, keep the feedback coming. sales@epclabs.com
