The MTS /IEEE Oceans 2001 Conference and Exhibition
was held this year in the U.S., but off the mainland at the Hilton
Hawaii Village in Honolulu, Hawaii. Although EPC was not in attendance
we had asked EPC Monthly subscribers to offer their own critique.
A small sampling: "well attended, but often overcast",
"I think you might give the show 6-7 badges effort", "I
did not get too much of a tan because there wasn't too much sun.
It was about the same for the drinks at the different 'Social Events'.
There was nothing to break the ice with..."
The general mood seemed to be very positive, nowhere
near the dire prediction profusely expounded from this Newsletter.
Many dressed casually in Hawaiian shirts and the natives were eager
to please (especially with tourism being down). One down size were
the high prices. Next up for the MTS /IEEE crew, Oceans '02, Marine
Frontiers "Reflections of the Past, Visions of the Future"
October 28-31, 2002 at the Gulf Coast Coliseum Convention Center
in Biloxi, Mississippi.
