1. Quote of the Month

"I'm using the EPC Model 4600 Graphic Recorder with an EG&G equipment for geophysical research (Uniboom). I know that is an old equipment, but it works very well. Thanks to the very robust project and respectable companies involved in it."

- Geraldo Cunha
MICROARS Consultroia e Projetos Ltda commenting on the EPC Model 4600 still in operation after 24 years. (The 4600 was discontinued in 1978).

2. EPC's Reign in Spain

One, then two. EPC is pleased to announce back-to-back sales in Spain. EPC sales representative Antonio Girona of HydroAcoustics S.L. purchased two GSP-1086-2 500 Series. The popular 1086 "500 Series" features the added analog features: Time Varied Gain and Band Pass Filters.

HydroAcoustics has represented EPC in Spain for several years now, operating out of Madrid. Esta es una pagina dedicada a la instrumentación medio-ambiental marina, equipos de investigación oceanográfica y sistemas de ayuda a la navegación.

3. OI Top Ten Feedback

Anytime the EPC Monthly runs copy on a trade show, we tend to get a lot of response. Last Issue's segment, "Top Ten Reasons OI should stay in Brighton" (VOL. 3 NO. 36), was no exception. A sampling from our readers:

"Your fundamental knowledge of the physics of the universe has again led to true meaning and understanding. If you are ever looking for a job please call..."
- Anonymous husband commenting on wife's credit card doing more damage in London (No. 1 reason).

"London could be serious plastic meltdown."
- Anonymous husband No. 2

"The problem is going to be that when the show closes most people will disperse all over London and we will lose the feature that Brighton offered which kept people very close together within 2 or 3 blocks. Spearhead claim they are going to have after conference functions, but if you have been on an exhibition stand all day long, you are not going to want to go straight to a reception, you will want to go and get changed and then go out for dinner later on."

"I think Spearhead have totally missed the plot."
Barney Baron, Hydroquip Ltd.

4. New Web Site On-Line Now!

If you haven't checked out the newest EPC We Site do it now http://www.epclabs.com. All the substantive content remains but now in a sleeker, easier to navigate design. Voted the Number One new marine related web site on the Internet! (voted on by EPC marketing staff). The web site was designed and implemented by Curley Design Group, (sound familiar - it should). Like the old site better? Want to see something added or different? We value your input and want to know. Please forward compliments, complaints, and your 2 cents worth to sales@epclabs.com.

5. Tip of the Month: Fixing"Paper Drop-Out"

SYMPTOM: Occasionally thermal printers produce "drop out" areas of print on the record. Where there is suppose to be print there is none, or very light records. This is remedied with a simple mechanical adjustment.

TOOLS NEEDED: #4 Hex Wrench.

PROCEDURE: If drop out occurs on either the right side or left side of the record, adjust the #4 set screw in the PRINT ROLLER ASSEMBLY. First, slide latch on roller door forward into locked position. Insert # Hex Wrench into the semi-circle cut out in the latch. If the right side of the print drops out, then rotate the set screw either up or down to eliminate drop-out. This will adjust the relative position of the Print Roller to the element line by rotating the tuning screw. Drop-out very rarely occurs in the middle of the10" recorders (1086 & HSP-100). For drop out in the middle, adjust the set screws on either side of the PRINT ROLLER ASSEMBLY.

6.  OI 2002 Preview

EPC is pleased to be participating in the upcoming Oceanology International Conference in London, 5-8 March 2002. Despite all of the lamenting and wailing over the move from Brighton to London, the Excel Conference looks like a world class Conference Center in a world class city. The OI event is still the preeminent conference in the industry. Whether new logistics propose a problem to the large audience is yet to be determined.

EPC will be exhibiting the new Model 9206 (high speed, "wide-bed"), the MP-1086 and HSP-100. The 1086NT will be exhibited in the MacArtney A/S Booth 6/27. As far as events, EPC will host a Sales Representative Meeting at Excel on Wednesday, March 6th. At the luncheon EPC will award the "Sales Representative of the Year" and "Sales Achievement" Award. For details, e-mail: sales@epclabs.com. In addition to the sales representative meeting, EPC will host a daily keg throwing competition at the booth and will be attending every hospitality suite we can weasel into.

7.  Retraction

There's a first for everything. Over the three years of running the EPC Monthly we've had our fair share of misspellings and offensive attempts at humor, but last month we had our first request for a retraction. After our glowing recommendation of our sales representative in Houston, Survey Equipment Services, we incorrectly stated their web address as http://www-ses-services.com. The correct address (hyphen not period after www) is http://www.ses-services.com. We apologize for the thousands who incorrectly attempted to log on.

The EPC Monthly is a FREE Newsletter sent to customers and industry personnel. If you have received this e-mail in error or would like to unsubscribe we understand and respect your privacy. Our feelings will not be hurt. O.K they'll be a little hurt. You know it takes a lot to put this newsletter together. Do you think I just sit here and put it together in a couple of minutes? O.K. it really doesn't take that long, but why would you want to unsubscribe? Never mind. To unsubscribe, if you must, please reply and type "I'm heartless" or "REMOVE" in the subject line.
