1. More Trade Show Lunacy

Even though its a year away - its worth reporting. In what looks like a continuing scheduling problem, the UNDERWATER INTERVENTIONS has announced next years dates for the UI 2003 Conference in New Orleans. An EPC Monthly Reader points out that the shows dates are January 25-28, 2003. Looks inconspicuous enough until you go to a 2003 calender and see that the conference starts on a Saturday and ends on a Tuesday?!? How many attendees are going to spend their Sunday, their day off, the day they go to church, at a trade show? And its not just any Sunday, check the schedule sports fans - its Super Sunday, as in Super Bowl Sunday. This year's UI show also ran over the week-end and bumped into the OI Conference leaving many double attendees barely enough time to get their dry cleaning done.

It doesn't end there. This years Oceans 2002 Conference in Biloxi, Mississippi runs from October 29-31st. For any exhibitor with a family, October 31st stands out. It's Halloween. Now I know neither Super Sunday or Halloween are official U.S. Holidays, but the organizers have the entire year to choose from. Instead of spending time with your family and friends you'll be waiting in line with your drink ticket.....on a Sunday.

2. Yankee BBQ at OTC

In what is now a long standing tradition, EPC will co-host with Benthos, Inc. our annual Yankee BBQ during the week of OTC. The yearly event (we've lost count, is it the 17th?) is held pool-side at the Residence Inn near the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, May 6-9th. For details contact Benthos Marketing Coordinator, Frances Lewis-Souza. EMail: flewis-souza@benthos.com This years event will feature a menu change to Brie Cheese and white wine spritzers. Just kidding, there is change however, to Chicken & Ribs to go along with the usual Margaritas and beer. T-shirts & an added drawing promise to round out the annual event in honor of all our loyal customers.
