1. Quote of the Month

"Originally we planned to purchase two thermal recorders: one from your company (EPC) and other from Ultra Electronics (UK). As there is budget cut recently, now we can only buy one thermal recorder. We have decided to order GSP 1086-2 500 recorder because we trust your products".

2. Summer Sales Sizzle

The Fourth of July came a little early at EPC, as fireworks went off at the end of June with STN ATLAS Elektronik GmbH (Bremen, Germany) accepting, and EPC shipping, its biggest TGR contract of the year. STN accepted delivery of seven Model 9602 Thermal Graphic Recorders. The 20" TGRs are custom made machines utilized with the ISUS Anti Submarine Warfare System. The Systems are deployed on both submarines and surface ships. EPC has provided thermal recorders exclusively to STN since 1991and has delivered over fifty (50) recorders.

On the heels of the STN Contract, several orders kept the Summer sales sizzling: Model 9802 for Phoenix International (Landover, MD), 1086NT for the United States Army Corps of Engineers, USACOE (Pine Bluff, AR), and a GSP-1086-2 500 Series for the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources, K.I.G.A.M. (Taejeon, So. Korea).

4. RD Update: Networking with TEI

EPC is pleased to announce that the Model 1086NT and the Model 9206 have both been successfully interfaced to the Triton Elics (Watsonville, CA) ISIS Software. The Model 1086NT and the Model 9206 are the only printers in the industry with networking capability. Configured as TCP/IP host, the recorders expose a simple socket interface to receive data and commands from a node on any LAN or Internet connection. With print speeds as fast as the 1086 Series, the Model 9206 is the fastest selling 20" TGR on the market! The 1086NT builds upon the popular 1086 Series by incorporating the Ethernet Socket (TCP/IP) Interface with an already impressive array of interfaces: two analog channels, a high speed centronics compatible parallel, an RS-232 with selectable Baud rates and a QWERTY Keyboard. EPC has added Slant Range Correction, Bottom Tracking, and a height from the bottom algorithm.

5. FAQ: Thermal Paper Longevity

One of the more frequently asked questions of EPC is how long with the thermal image last? When EPC started manufacturing thermal graphic recorders, as opposed to electrogrpahic, back in 1981 we were told the image if kept out of direct ultra violet light would last for at least seven years. Well that was over ten years ago, and EPC can report that recorded images, if stored properly (rolled and out of UV light) will last at least ten years!

6. Trade Show Fall Schedule

As we wind through Summer, thoughts turn to the Fall and the upcoming trade Show Schedule. As in years past this Fall will be a busy one for EPC.

First up, the OTW, or in long hand the Ocean Technology Workshop hosted by Marine Ocean Technology Network (MOTN). This year's event is notable for several reasons, most significant: expanded manufacturers participation and a change in venue. The rescheduled event, moves from the Cape to Plymouth, Massachusetts making it a short ride from Logan Airport in Boston, improved hotel accommodations and easier access to the docks for the sea trials. The MOTN has reached out to include manufacturers from outside the New England region. On board this year; Triton Elics International, TSS, and RDI. In addition, Coastal Oceanographics will host a concurrent HYPACK mini camp and ARGOS will host a Regional User's Workshop.

EPC plans to showcase the newest EPC network printers, the 1086NT and Model 9206. The event is September 23-25, 2002. For details visit MOTN.

The same week as the OTW, EPC will traverse the Atlantic and exhibit at the SMM Shipbuilding, Machinery and Marine Technology, International Trade Fair in Hamburg, Germany, September 24-28, 2002 http://www.hamburg-messe.de/SMM/ EPC will exhibit the Model 9206 with German Super Agent, IGP Pinnow (2002 Winner of the EPC Sales Representative of the Year).

Rounding out the Fall schedule, EPC heads South, to the Oceans 2002 MTS/IEEE Conference & Exhibition October 29-31, 2002 in Biloxi, Mississippi.
