EPC's Fiscal Year runs from August to July, so
the First Quarter for Fiscal Year 2003 is the books. EPC is pleased
to report that we have picked up right where we left off, with the
new line of Network Printers (1086NT, MP-1086 & Model 9206)
accounting for a bulk of the sales. The HSP-100 continuous to impress
as a lower cost alternative making significant sales (over 20%)
within the EPC recorder line. The Model 9206 is emerging as the
fastest growing "wide-bed" (20" display) in the industry.
EPC's reputation as the world leader in recorder
manufacturing is exemplified with an overview sales. In just the
first few months of the fiscal year EPC has secured orders in; Denmark,
Vietnam, Spain, Korea, India, China, & US.

Although it seems like many weeks and much bad
cocktail food removed, the EPC Monthly is finally getting around
to reviewing the past Oceans MTS/IEEE 2002 Conference. This year's
event was held at the end of October (28th-31st) in Biloxi, MS.
The Conference offered two hotels, the plush Beau Rivage and the
not so plush converted Holiday Inn. The Beau Rivage boasts 12 restaurants,
a full spa and a Mediterranean - theme casino. Meaning, if the you
hadn't spent enough in trade show and travel costs, you could try
your luck at enriching the local Mississippi economy.
The Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention
Center was only a short drive down the coast and did an adequate,
although a little worse for the wear, job of housing the exhibitors.
Come to think of it we did have to go off premise for all our lunches.
The Conference events were well attended and well received. the
Ice Breaker Reception showed promise for a large attendance and
the MTS Gala "Fais Do-Do" (don't ask) was good food and
good fun.
I wish the same could be said for the conference.
A lack of attendance from the survey industry, the Navy and surprisingly
the educational institutions have some exhibitor's wondering why
we attend this conference every year. Geography seems to play a
big part as a lot of attendees and exhibitors showed up this year
because of the "back yard" aspect to Houston/Lafayette.
Next year's conference will have the same feel, nice area (San Diego,
CA), marginal convention center (Town & Country). Out of a possible
10 badges, this years Oceans 2002 receives a five #####, or as they
say in gambling lingo, "a push".

Adding to the versatility of it's line of Network
Printers, EPC is developing a Network API (Application Programming
Interface) for a LINUX Platform. This platform is becoming popular
among programmers and European and US customers.

In keeping with tradition, EPC plans to give Christmas
and New year's Day off to its employees. Holiday schedule is currently
under review depending on shopper's procrastination.
