2. OI London VS. Oiamericas

The OI Americas 2003 Conference is fast approaching. Last year's event was held in London and this year‚s event is being held in New Orleans, LA. It's time take stock. It‚s Big Ben versus The Big Easy. If the event was biennial again who would have the edge?

1. British Air vs. US Airways: Its upper class vs. low class. Edge: London
2. Pub food vs. Bar food: A dozen oysters easily beats a plate of ham. Edge: New Orleans
3. Windsor Castle vs. French Quarter Townhouse: The French Quarter has Townhouses? Edge: London
4. Excel, London vs. Morial Convention Center: The Excel is a longer commute from hotel, but brand new. Edge: London
5. Theater vs. Jazz: Completely subjective, but so is everything else on the list: Edge: New Orleans.
6. Thistle Hotel, London vs. Marriott, New Orleans: $215.00 vs. $199.00, when the lights are off the rooms look the same. Edge: New Orleans
7. Regeant Street vs. Bourbon Street: We‚ll take the party atmosphere over the wife‚s shopping: Edge: New Orleans
8. Pint of Lager vs. Patty O‚Brian‚s Hurricane: If you‚ve had one you know it tastes like pool water. Edge: London
9. Dover Sole vs. Crawfish Etouffee: New Orleans cooking beats almost anything. Edge: New Orleans
10. Portebello Road vs. New Orleans French Market. You can‚t haggle for a beignet. Edge: London
11. OI, London booth traffic vs. OIAmericas booth traffic: Tough to predict, but OI London has had a bigger more international audience. Edge: London
12. London Fog vs. Gulf Coast humidity: New Orleans in June? Pack your trench coat, its part of the charm. Edge: London

Based on a larger attendance and more tourism options, the venue "across the pond" edges the Crescent City. EPC will be exhibiting at OI Americas in Booth # 223.

5. Maintenance Tip: Clean Printhead

To prolong the life of the thermal printhead it is essential to clean it after every roll of thermal paper. A clean cloth rag or cotton swab may be used with either denatured or isopropyl alcohol. The ideal item is an alcoholic swab, EPC uses denatured alcohol.

Avoid touching the element line of the printhead. The oils from finger tips can accelerate the heat transfer process. This will cause pixels to burn out prematurely. After disconnecting power source, gently rub the moistened rag or swab onto the element line. Make small back and forth motions while advancing from one side of the printhead to the other. Wait for the element line to dry.
