Talk about hitting a nerve. Make that a raw nerve.
The EPC Monthly was flooded with responses to our Show Review of
the OIAmericas Conference (VOL. 5 NO. 49).
Despite a strong effort from the organizers to promote the conference,
the show produced a critical consensus. To protect the innocent,
we've left the remarks as anonymous.
On the monetary downside:
"Hope things are going well and I really
liked your last mailout on the OIAmericas show, it'd have been very
funny if it'd hadn't been so bl@*dy expensive to participate!"
"I think you are about right on. I figure
we spent around $16,000.00"
"I think that you were too kind to the
OI Americas show. It was even worse for us as our cost were over
$20,000.00"
On the propaganda front:
"Should be amusing to read the mandatory
(Major Trade Publication) positive show review. Statements such
as 'the quality of attendees was high' and ' Led by a strong technical
presentation.' will be dragged out and propped up once again..."
"what a review. I had a feeling to the
effect reading between the lines of ....daily missives. There was
not the usual: 6,000 registrants pounding the ailes!...sort of proclamations...in
fact there were none! Sorry for you and all the others who took
the leap of faith..."
On the complimentary (of the review - not the
show) side:
"As always, to the point, provocative,
and extremely correct. Nice editorial."
On the disappointed:
" I did not attend the conference this
year, although my boss did. He came back with the same low opinion
of the event as you and others have proclaimed."
On the humorous side:
"The Funeral Band was the best $50.00
I've ever spent, apart from the 6ft blonde at Rick's."
"Pulling no punches, Theodore rams home
his point, impaling the decomposing corpse as the wailing fades
to a gurgle."
"Reminded me of Mrs. Lincoln's interview
after the assassination... 'So Mrs. Lincoln, other than that, how
was the show?"

Sales in the Gulf of Mexico have things heating
up at EPC. The University of Alabama has added a 1086NT
to go along with their HSP-100 which is in use with their EdgeTech
X-Star SBP System, Coda DA50 and Applied Acoustics Boomer /Sparker
System.
Oceanographia (Mexico) purchased a new
GSP-1086-2 500 Series for general purpose survey use. Sonographics
Inc. (Florida) also likes the HSP-100 and is using their
newest purchase to print data from their EdgeTech X-STAR Sub-Bottom
Profiler.
Cochrane Technologies (Lafayette, LA) is
using a new HSP-100 and 1086NT with their Coda DA50
Seismic Acquisition System and Coda DA50 Side Scan Acquisition Systems.
Gulf Ocean Services (Gibson, LA) has added another Network
Printer, this time the Model 1086NT to work with their Triton
Elics ISIS and Klein 3000 Side Scan Sonar. Not surprisingly, Houston
based EPC Distributor, Survey Equipment Services has needed
to "re-stock" with new EPCs, 2 X GSP-1086-2 500
Series and 1 X HSP-100 to satisfy equipment rental
contracts.

One of the most Frequently Asked Questions of
EPC is, "Is the 1086 thermal paper compatible wit the HSP-100?"
or "Can you supply me with old Raytheon electrosensitive
paper?" The answer to both questions is "Yes".
The 1086 THERMAL PAPER P/N 802140CS and the THERMAL FILM P/N 802141CS
can also be used with the HSP-100 (as well as the old Model 8300).
As far as supplying old electrosensive paper,
EPC can provide support for the old Raytheon LSRs. If you have older
machines other than Raytheon, give us a try we may be able to help,
